What are Meta Games

Meta games are where the strategies employed by players transcend usual gaming rules. Here, the game gathers knowledge based on other players' perspectives and can change the behavior of other players and decide their course of action.

They are usually highly engaging and are quite useful for user acquisition. They were initially associated with Role-Playing Games (RPGs) only. Now, they have expanded to include games like poker, sports-based games, and other multi-player games.

How do Meta Games work

Meta games usually provide long-term goals and milestones to players and thus, keep them engaged for a longer time. For instance, a meta-game enables them to leverage strategy greatly and helps them progress forward in the game. It factors in characters, weapons, or maps and provides highly engaging gameplay.
